WREN
WREN is a shallow walnut serving bowl that I hand turned on my lathe from wood responsibly sourced here in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Remnants of the wood’s inner bark, resembling “Jupiter’s Eye,” are visible on opposing exterior sides of the dish. The sapwood has lavender hues and appears iridescent when held up to the light.
This shallow walnut serving bowl measures 11-3/8″ wide, 1-7/8″ tall, and 1-1/8″ deep. I polished the dish with food safe walnut oil followed by a protective coating of beeswax and carnauba wax to provide a durable finish and rich luster. As with all of my handmade wood dishes, I include care instructions with the purchase of this piece.

A little about me….
I’m a historical archaeologist and spend my days excavating sites, analyzing artifacts, and writing up my findings. When I’m not in the field, you’ll find me in my woodshop. I primarily use found and reclaimed wood from here in Central Kentucky. It’s my hope that incorporating elements of the wood as I found it into each piece serves as a reminder that the object you see once was part of a beautiful, living tree.
