Olive is a wine bottle topper that I hand turned on my lathe.
I made this stopper from purpleheart, an exotic hardwood native to Central and South America, from Mexico to southern Brazil. This purpleheart wood happens to come from an offcut. Offcuts are the waste pieces produced by fine furniture makers.
I finished the wood with high friction polish and it is its natural color. The bottle stopper’s total length is 5-3/4″, and her maximum width is 1-1/2″. The steel stopper portion is triple chrome plated with a silicone rubber seal.
Additionally, the purchase of this wine bottle topper includes a drawstring fabric gift bag handmade by Lori.

A little about me….
I’m a historical archaeologist and spend my days excavating sites, analyzing artifacts, and writing up my findings. When I’m not in the field, you’ll find me in my woodshop. I primarily use found and reclaimed wood from here in Central Kentucky. It’s my hope that incorporating elements of the wood as I found it into each piece serves as a reminder that the object you see once was part of a beautiful, living tree.
