Galen is a walnut wood plate that was hand turned on my lathe from wood responsibly sourced here in Bourbon County, Kentucky. The contrast of the light sapwood against the dark heartwood make this plate a truly unique piece. A small sliver of inner bark still is visible on the edge of one side of the plate.
This walnut wood plate measures 7-7/8″ in diameter and 15/16″. I polished the top of the plate with food safe Terra Nova NaturOil followed by a protective coating of beeswax. The underside I finished with high friction polish.
Care instructions are included with the purchase of this piece.

A little about me….
I’m a historical archaeologist and spend my days excavating sites, analyzing artifacts, and writing up my findings. When I’m not in the field, you’ll find me in my woodshop. I primarily use found and reclaimed wood from here in Central Kentucky. It’s my hope that incorporating elements of the wood as I found it into each piece serves as a reminder that the object you see once was part of a beautiful, living tree.
