FINLEY
FINLEY is a lidded wooden box hand turned from cherry burl wood responsibly sourced right here in Bourbon County, Kentucky.
Burls are knotty growths on trees where the wood has grown in a deformed manner. This particular burl comes from a cherry tree. The deformation of the wood as the tree grew created a unique and visually striking grain when viewed from any vantage point.
Without the lid, the bowl measures approximately 4-3/4″ wide by 2″ tall with an interior width of 4-1/8″ and a depth of 1-1/2″. With the lid, the measurements are 5″ wide by 2-3/4″ tall. I finished this lidded wooden box with high friction polish which enhances its natural color, grain, and tone.
Care instructions are included with the purchase of this piece.

A little about me….
I’m a historical archaeologist and spend my days excavating sites, analyzing artifacts, and writing up my findings. When I’m not in the field, you’ll find me in my woodshop. I primarily use found and reclaimed wood from here in Central Kentucky. It’s my hope that incorporating elements of the wood as I found it into each piece serves as a reminder that the object you see once was part of a beautiful, living tree.
