Eloise is a walnut wood bowl that I hand turned on my lathe. For this piece I used responsibly sourced from right here in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Remnants of the wood’s inner bark, resembling “Jupiter’s Eye,” are visible on opposing exterior sides of the dish.
This walnut wood bowl measures 10-1/4″ wide, 1-7/8″ tall, and 1″ deep. I polished the wood with Terra Nova NaturOil which is food safe, FDA approved, kosher, environmentally friendly, non-toxic, free of dyes, perfumes, and nut oils that can cause allergic reactions, and protects against drying, cracking, and water damage. Following the NaturOil, I applied a coating of beeswax which for added protection.
Care instructions are included with the purchase of this piece.

A little about me….
I’m a historical archaeologist and spend my days excavating sites, analyzing artifacts, and writing up my findings. When I’m not in the field, you’ll find me in my woodshop. I primarily use found and reclaimed wood from here in Central Kentucky. It’s my hope that incorporating elements of the wood as I found it into each piece serves as a reminder that the object you see once was part of a beautiful, living tree.
