CLARA
Clara is a cherry handmade wood bowl that I turned on my lathe. For this piece I used wood sustainably sourced right here in beautiful Bourbon County, Kentucky.
Clara reminds me of a fashionable 1950s woman with her pencil skirt and fitted jacket cinched by a skinny belt and accessorized with pearls and a pillbox hat, ready for another day at the office. I love the style and furniture of that era. It’s not what I was thinking about while I turned Clara, but oftentimes my influences aren’t apparent even to myself until I’m done with a piece.
This cherry handmade wood bowl measures approximately 7-1/8″ wide, 2-5/8″ tall, and 2″ deep. I polished this piece with food safe Odie’s Oil to provide a durable finish and rich luster. Additionally, I include care instructions with the purchase of this piece.

A little about me….
I’m a historical archaeologist and spend my days excavating sites, analyzing artifacts, and writing up my findings. When I’m not in the field, you’ll find me in my woodshop. I primarily use found and reclaimed wood from here in Central Kentucky. It’s my hope that incorporating elements of the wood as I found it into each piece serves as a reminder that the object you see once was part of a beautiful, living tree.
